Film process reflection

What was the filming process like? What worked and what didn't work? The process was longer than I expected. I had a setback because my cousin has to go to work. So I had to use my little sister as my actress. Some initial shot ideas I had did not work because it told to much of a story and didn’t fit the time limit. I actually enjoyed creating and filming this project. I did annoyed at times because I had to re film a lot of shots over and over. It was a bit difficult because there were multiple other people on the house having conversations, but it was not to bad because I did not need a lot of dialogue and sound.

Locations and Context of COVID-19

What locations are you using? How long do you think it'll take you to film? Who are your subjects and what do you think your process for directing and filming will be in the context of COVID-19? I am using my godmothers house as my location to film. It took me around 2 hours to film or 3 because I had to start over. My subject is about how teens have become more lazy and less active during  COVID-19 because everything is shutdown. My process for directing and filming was with people I knew who been staying safe during the pandemic.

Editing the shots together and movie cover

I did not have access to the software premiere pro so I did have to use another software on my phone. After I filmed all my shots at my godmother's house I had to go back home and edit because I all needed my computer. I used a a website to create my movie cover that screen recording is down below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0KJ5-L5kzY

Traveling to film

Because I was creating/filming a routine and I need a house with more elements such as stairs and a island so I used my godmother's house. I knew it would be a bit challenging because some assignments were due in the middle of the week but I could only go to her house on the weekends so I did submit an assignment late. But I would have to bring my computer, storyboards, ring light, tripod, and backpack to go over there and film. Traveling to a whole other house to my sample shots and opener was a bit of a challenge because of inconveniences. But in the end I was able to complete my shots for the opener.

Final production

Today I filmed and edit my final project. It took longer than I expected. Originally I was going to use my older god sister as my actress but the only day I was able to go to her house was on the weekends and she had to work. We were in the middle of the production when she had to get ready and leave. So I adapted and used my younger sister as my actress. I originally wanted more of a teenage girl but, I settled and the outcome was still pretty good. I had to do lots of retakes and multiple shots. My sister wasn't used to acting but she did pretty good. I constantly I had to make sure my angles were right and make sure everything I needed was in the frame. One challenge was getting the dog to stay still and look up even it was for a couple of seconds. Despite some minor setbacks I was able to get it done.

Production sample shots

What was the filming process like? What worked and what didn't work? The filming process did not take that long being that is was sample clips. I did have to take multiple shots and different angles to find out what looks the best. My sample clips were based on utilizing the staircase. Certain camera positions did not work and my audio was to nosy because of the background noise. The low camera angle that only shows her feet did work and I like the outcome.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wp567nrk-_0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t89xC1Vd5U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NHKh17gmGk

Story board

Image
What was the process of creating the storyboard like? Did it confirm or refute your initial thoughts for what the video intro would look like? Did you iterate on your idea? Are there any additional things you added, or aspects that you've taken away?  This process took longer than I expected, I worked on throughout the day. I had to keep changing things so I make sure that it is an intro opener. I  did confirm some of my initial thoughts such as the actions I wanted but I did have to refute a lot of my dialogue because Ms. Brown stated their isn't much dialogue in a opener.  I also refuted a lot of my actions for time sake and make sure it only focused on the main characters. Unfortunately, I did not iterate on my idea. I have added new scenes and actions to my opener. I took away a lot of dialogue, actions, scenes, and other ideas or visions.

Why I decided this task

Why did you decide to complete this task? Talk specifically about what are some of your initial concepts and what you've learned from the class so far.       I have decided to complete this task because I have always loved filming and editing videos. I have explored many different apps for editing fake YouTube videos with my sister. I enjoy the process of editing my videos because I see my progress and make the videos exactly how I want to my satisfactory. I like the filming process as well I feel like it is entertaining. Seeing other people's well edited videos gives me inspirations as well.      My initial concept for my film opener was about how girls should be careful on social media and messaging strangers. The idea I had vision of making a trailer until on class I learned what exactly a intro opener is and how its is different from a trailer. Then I changed my idea to how teens these days interact with social media. Then I realized the vision I had was to complex being

Treatment- ''Pandemic Problem''

Today I created my treatment and logline for my into opener. Where it is called ''Pandemic Problem'' https://browardcountyschools-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/0611140926_my_browardschools_com/EQNu46i_nb5JvfBjguMVL9ABnytDyc8aACBc2thLuoJGYw?e=FhtfOF

New Film opener ideas

After the past 2 classes I have learned a better understanding of what a film opener is and how it should be constructed. It turns out my original idea was  no good and for a little while I was stuck and had no clue of what I should do. But now after going over our jam board I picked up a couple of idea I can possibly use.  1) one idea is a teenage girl who wants to get more active fit. This could be comedy genre. Some idea I had in store consist of -highlighting the lack of motivation (always sleeping or always on her phone) -researching ways to get fit and healthy foods  -try's certain exercises One problem I may have is constructing a cliff hanger  2) another idea is the current pandemic where multiple people is effected. This could be thriller. Some ideas I had in mind may be  -showing different people life's now with a voice over -how it effects them  - maybe do a singular person describing their life now and how it changed  Overall I over came my filmmaker's block an

Film opener ideas

I'm not exactly sure how I want to do my film intro. I have an open mind of ideas connected to one topic. I want to base it around teenagers, social media, online messaging, child abduction/human trafficking. I still have different ideas in my head and I'm thinking about how get my message across within 1-2 minutes. I feel like time is my greatest challenge.  I am somewhat confident when I will began the editing process since I like to do it and have been doing it for a while. I feel like I am creativity when it comes to that topic. I know I have the family and resources to bring my vision to life through editing and video.  My overall plans/ideas -starts off with a close up of a young girl texting someone -black out transitions  -edgy and intense music on very transition beat. -older guy comes off as another young person seducing young girl -mother telling the girl to be careful who you meet online and always tell her first I kind of see my vision as I see other movie trailer
