''The Crossing'' Discussion Post

  The filmmakers use cinematic language to manipulate viewers reactions to the film  by cutting  certain scenes, using different shot  angles,  cinematic  invisibility,  and point of view .  With these things the filmmakers were able to connect them to one another making the ''perfect scene''. By using these film  techniques,  it allows each viewer to interpret  what is  going on their reaction to it .  For  example,  toward the end of the short film there is cinematic invisibility .  This technique was used when the  actor  was grabbed from behind then it went to a black screen. Final production

 Today I filmed and edit my final project. It took longer than I expected. Originally I was going to use my older god sister as my actress but the only day I was able to go to her house was on the weekends and she had to work. We were in the middle of the production when she had to get ready and leave. So I adapted and used my younger sister as my actress. I originally wanted more of a teenage girl but, I settled and the outcome was still pretty good. I had to do lots of retakes and multiple shots. My sister wasn't used to acting but she did pretty good. I constantly I had to make sure my angles were right and make sure everything I needed was in the frame. One challenge was getting the dog to stay still and look up even it was for a couple of seconds. Despite some minor setbacks I was able to get it done.

Representation Reflection Discussion Post

  The idea of representation compares to  Stuart  Hall's theory because Hall's theory explains how a subject does not have one fixed meaning.  It is  ''meaning'' does not exist in the real world until it is represented in media. And that media is what give these events or subjects meaning.  Stuart  Hall states '' Representation is not an after the event activity, it means something and then the presentation might change or distort. We are talking about the fact that it has no fixed meaning no real meaning in the obvious sense. Until it is being represented.'' This means that media is the meaning makers to these events that  happened .  For  example,  using the corona virus pandemic,  it has  been alleged that it came from china and Chinese people.
